Why a Trainer?MOTIVATION COMMITMENT GUIDANCE ASSISTANCE PROGRESSION HARDER, YET SAFER WORKOUTS Training with Toben Torres:
Chloe wanted to change her lifestyle to a healthy one, so she joined LHC in August 2010. She began working with personal trainer, Toben Torres, who developed an individual program to help her lose weight and improve her fitness level. In August, Chloe weighed 150.5 lbs. After working with Toben on a weekly basis, following her program at LHC 3-4 times a week, and watching her calories daily, Chloe currently weighs 136 lbs. She still has a target she's working towards and intends to continue her new healthy lifestyle at LHC where she can enjoy all that she has worked so hard to achieve. I Lost 110 lbs! I couldn't have done it without LHC and my trainer Nick
Jenice. It was in June 2008 that I finally decided to take control of my life. Deeming I'd be most at ease with a female trainer, I requested one upon calling the gym. When I received a message from Nick offering his services, I was hesitant. There were a plethora of reasons why I was unsure about hiring a male trainer; however, I also realized this was an opportunity that I should not pass up. It turned out to be one of the better decisions I've made, for it was not long before Nick had proven himself and earned my trust. There have been a few bumps in the road. At one point I decided to "fast track" the process by cutting my calories to 1200 a day. It worked for a month, then the scale ceased to move. I found myself increasingly petulant so, I swallowed my pride and told Nick what was happening. The solution was to eat more. Apparently my body had gone into starvation mode. I brought my calories back up and began to lose weight again. Although I still have a ways to go, the process has gotten exponentially easier over time. The biggest surprise has been how much my body craves exercise. My proudest moments come when I hear my 4-year-old tell my 2-year-old how important exercise is: "that is why mommy runs on the treadmill and has play dates with Nick." The most enjoyment I've had was cleaning out my closet because I no longer fit into my clothes. I am truly grateful to Nick for the support and guidance he has provided. Without his patience and expertise this process would have been far less intuitive and considerably more tedious. What Kathy's clients say: "Kathy becomes the trainer you need her to be. I have been working out with Kathy three times a week for six years. My posture has improved dramatically. I have upper body strength I never dreamed would be possible and I no longer have one injury after another. Equally as important, she is able to make exercising fun." "Kathy continues to keep us all (Circuit Training Class) in good shape and happy at the same time." "Having worked with Kathy Korpell for four months on a twice–a–week basis, I can say that this has been the perfect non–intimidating and user–friendly introduction to weight training." "During the five years that I have worked with Kathy, she has excelled as a personal trainer and allowed me to work towards developing my personal health objectives. I returned to pursuing fitness because of a number of health concerns including excessive weight, lack of exercise tolerance and a general desire to fully enjoy my life as I aged. Kathy has not only helped me achieve my goals, but helped me set new objectives by allowing the time that I spend working out to be fun and challenging. Without reservations, I would recommend Kathy as a trainer who is skilled, technically adept, innovative and has an excellent knowledge of nutrition." |

Tony Salinaro
N.F.I. / N.A.S.M. Certified Personal Trainer
A long time resident of the Bay Area, Tony has seen many other parts of the world while in the Navy and in other travels. He appreciates, more than ever, the many opportunities this area provides. The weather, geography, the fresh produce and the great health clubs, such as Lafayette Health Club, all contribute to an awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
Just like most of you, Tony did not always care for his health and fitness. He was a pretty active kid, but the responsibilities of career and family became "everything". He knew he could feel better and stronger, but he did not have the time to fit it in. Good health has to be a priority. Finally, a personal crisis, and then the desire to gain some control of his life, led Tony to start doing some "jogging". Over time he sought out more information and was encouraged to learn more about feeling and performing well. He became a fairly competitive runner and was the President of The Island City Runners in Alameda for many years.
Tony can attest to the fact that a consistent and appropriate exercise program can lead to a Lifestyle of Fitness. Tony's personal training programs are informed by the explorations of Yoga, Pilates, Feldenkries, and strength and conditioning. He is a running coach, working with individuals and teams.
Tony is committed to bringing you the tools to build a Lifestyle of Fitness for yourself.
